Darga Salim Chistie, Fatehpur Sikri
The white marble tomb of Salim Chishti (Dargah Salim Chistie) is shown reflected in a pool of water within the Jama Masjid courtyard complex. The tomb is known for its intricate marble screens, or jalis. Red Fort Main Gate Delhi A view of the main gate of the Red Fort in Delhi, with horse-drawn carriages and pedestrians in the foreground. Jehangiri Mahal, Agra Fort Jahangiri Mahal, occupying a space of about 260-ft. by 288-ft., is in many respects the most remarkable building of its kind in India. It is a wonderful specimen of Mughal architecture clothed in the graceful adornments of Hindu art. Emperor's Throne, Red Fort, Delhi Ornate marble throne featuring an arched canopy supported by columns over a balcony. Behind the throne is a detailed latticework screen (jali) and the base is adorned with intricate floral carvings. The Gateway of Akbar's Tomb, Agra The gateway is a rectangular structure of red sandstone profusely decorated with white marble. At each corner of the gateway rises a minaret of white marble 86 1/2 ft. high from its roof. Buland Darwaza, Fatehpur Sikri, Agra The highest and the greatest gateway in India, was erected to commemorate Akbar's victorious campaign in the Deccan (1602 A.D.). Amar Singh Gate, Agra Fort The Fort on right or west of Jamuna, is a vast structure of red sandstone. It was commenced by Akbar in 1566 and was completed in eight years time. |
