Mahavilla Ganga is the principal river of the island of Ceylon. It has its source in the vicinity of Adam's Peak, and after draining more than 4,000 square miles of the country separates into several branches and enters the ocean near Trincomalee. It is no unusual sight to see elephants standing in the water refreshing and bathing themselves in the cool stream. |
