There is no better indication of the development of a community than the growth of its postal receipts. In the past twenty-five years the Front Royal post office receipts have increased over 150 per cent. In 1913 the office was raised to second class and during the same year Congress appropriated $50,000 for the erection of the building above, located on the corner of West Main and Lee streets. It was completed in 1923, is 47x48 feet in size, and is most modernly arranged and equipped. Besides an immediate city population of 2500, it also serves two rural and three star routes. |
