| The mine, part of the Kennecott Copper Company, is described as a theater-like quarry of approximately 855 acres, located about 30 miles southwest of Salt Lake City. Ore is mined with 42 electric shovels and transported by sixty-two 75-ton electric locomotives on 156 miles of standard gauge railroad track. The height of the mountain above the bed is 1,950 feet. |
