At this point in South Cheyenne Canon, for hundreds of feet, the canon has been worn thru solid granite. On either side are two tremendous cliffs, "The Pillars of Hercules," nearly a thousand feet high, and at one place but forty-two feet apart, barely giving room for the stream and roadway between them.
