This view from the foot of Luna Falls gives a good idea of the chaotic masses of rock that are the debris of the precipice after it has been undermined by the erosive power of the water. Behind Luna Falls is situated the celebrated Cave of the Winds. This vacant recess, 100 feet high and 60 feet in depth, is reached by means of a perpendicular winding stairway from Goat Island. The Cave derives its name from the constant pressure of the atmosphere, caused by the reflex of the falling water, which resembles a storm of great violence.
