| Illustration of a White Star Line steamship. The back describes the sister ships Britannic and Germanic, which entered service in 1874 and 1875. They were 455 feet long, iron hulled, single-screw, and steamed at 16 knots. Both ships won the trans-Atlantic 'Blue Ribbon' in 1876. The Britannic was scrapped in 1903 and the Germanic in 1950. |
