Additional Details:

The Cactus that characterizes the deserts of the Southwest. Flowers; late April and May. Native to California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and northern Mexico. Flower colors are very unstable, opening a pale-yellow in the morning, then every minute becoming darker throughout the day to an orange, burnt-orange, red, brown or pink.
