| The fountain emphasizes the beauty of this Northeast Texas city. Its Triton and basin are of Italian marble embellished by exquisite stone carvings. Gift of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Culbertson, the fountain was completed in 1927 to celebrate the rebuilding of the city which was destroyed by fire in 1916. Today, the fountain is the most photographed object in the city, and with its landscaping is the centerpiece of the prettiest plaza in the state. |
