U.S.S. INGERSOLL (DD-652)
Commissioned August 17, 1943. INGERSOLL was
present at nearly all the Major Pacific Cam-
paigns during World War II. She was credited
with three "Sure Kills" and four assists against
enemy aircraft, the sinking of an enemy de-
stroyer and numerous rescue missions saving
more than 100 lives. INGERSOLL was part of the
great U.S. Armada present in Tokyo Bay for the
Japanese Surrender. INGERSOLL'S motto today,
proudly displayed, is "READY NOW."
