Additional Details:
Cartoon illustration depicting the story of how Marked Tree, Arkansas, got its name. Text explains that Aborigine Indians marked a tree at a bend in the St. Francis River to point out a portage to the Little River, saving ten miles of paddling. In 1881, a camp for railroad workers was established at this "Marked Tree." The postcard also claims "UNIQUE... THAT'S US!" and "NO OTHER TOWN IN THE WORLD BEARS THE SAME NAME." Featured in the Memphis "Commercial Appeal."
