SOUTH PASS CITY, located in the hills south of
Lander, Wyoming off Highway 28, once lured
gold seekers and Oregon Trail travelers. The
booming city of 4,000 inhabitants became a ghost
town following exhaustion of the gold supply. The
area is now maintained as a tourist attraction and
historical reserve.
