| Designated a city historic district in 1967, the King William area was settled by wealthy German merchants in the late 19th century. A leisurely walk through the neighborhood provides an excellent view of the elegantly restored homes. Lacy wood and ironwork, wide arches, verandas and bay windows reflect a variety of architectural styles ranging from Italianate to Gothic and Romanesque Revival. |
