Fort Bliss, Texas with V2 Rocket

| V2, the German vengeance weapon, blasted England during the last year of World War II. It along with the V1 was the world's first flying bombs. In mid-1945 a shipment of 100 V2 rockets were shipped to Fort Bliss on 300 freight cars. In December a team of 100 German scientists came to Fort Bliss, one of them was Wernher von Braun the man behind Germany's rocket program. |
