| This is the oldest State House in the nation. It was the meeting place of the Colonial Assembly and Courts of New Castle, Kent and Sussex Counties, for seventy-two years before the Revolution. Here in 1776 the Declaration of Independence was approved. The central part was built in 1732 and two wings were added in 1765. |
