Here the actions of Anne Hutchinson and John Peter Zenger reflect the early struggles for the Constitutional freedoms of religion, speech, press and assembly. Zenger's publication of a truthful account of the corrupt Village Green election held here in 1733 helped establish the free press now protected by the Bill of Rights. This is Westchester County's first National Park Service site.
