The world's tallest hotel, a multi-faceted reflecting cylinder designed by architect John Portman, towers 70 stories above downtown Peachtree Street and contains 1100 rooms and suites. Peachtree Plaza in Peachtree Center is actually two buildings in one. The 9 story concrete base houses the public and convention areas, while the glass tower rises out of it, serving exclusively as a private, quiet complex of guest rooms and suites.
