Black and white spiral striped lighthouse. Designed by Paul Pelz, construction began in 1871 and completed in 1874. Built of Alabama brick, Georgia granite, and Philadelphia iron with an attached oil house. The first order Fresnel lens was lit on October 15, 1874. Height: 162 feet, 219 steps to the top of the tower.
