Thomas Circle is located at the intersection of 14th St., Vermont Ave., Massachusetts Ave., and M St., the Statue shown in the center of foreground is of Gen. Geo. H. Thomas, erected by the Army of the Cumberland. Cost $60,000. Luther Place Memorial Church with a statue of Martin Luther in front of it, occupies the triangular lock bounded by N St., 14th St. and Vermont Ave. the steeple to the rear and right n triangle is of the Vermont Avenue Christian Church which was attended by Pres. Garfield. The tower to extreme right, facing Vermont Ave. is of St. John's College, under direction of the Brothers of the Christian School.
