San Bernardino, California
This base almost a city in itself covers some 1,762 acres and
represents an investment of $53,000,000 and employs 10,000
civilians and 2600 military personnel most of whom are
devoted to maintenance and engineering services. Named in
honor of Captain Leland F. Norton a former San Bernardino
boy who was killed in action in 1944 near Amiens on his six-
teenth combat mission.
