"We'll leave a note here for our pal." The boys are
at the "Postoffice," in the Mark Twain Cave at Hannibal,
Missouri. The Cave was discovered in 1821, and explor-
ing parties of youths have been leaving messages at this
spot ever since. The miles of Cave walls are frescoed
here and there with initials and dates, carved or done
with candle smoke, dates that go back more than a hun-
dred years.
