LONG HOUSE - Larone, Maine
The millstone, topping the circular stone
steps, is the nether stone of the old grist
mill owned and operated by Moses Winslow,
former owner of Long House and grandfather
of M. Lucile Kidder, Craftsman, the present
owner. For a number of years after Moses
Winslow's death his widow, Eunice Winslow,
kept the Larone Post Office in the kitchen of
Long House. Mail was brought by stage from
Waterville, and the desk then used may be
seen in the sitting room. The grape-vine is the
one planted by Eunice Winslow.
