TWIST. August 9, 1906, Camp 120, 1,786
miles out from Puyallup.
I quote from journal: "Yesterday morn-
inging the ox Twist ate his grain as usual
and showed no signs of sickness until we
were on the road two or three miles, when
his breathing became heavy," and died be-
fore night; think he ate poisonous weeds.
DAVE. An unbroken Montana range
steer purchased out of the stock yards of
Tacoma, and broken in on the way. Weight
when purchased, January, 1906, 1,470
pounds; weight May, 1907, 1,735 pounds;
distance travelled 3,000 miles; five years
old when purchased; red Durham.
