St. Patrick's Street is a curved, wide and handsome
thoroughfare on the south side of the River Lee, and is one
of the most important streets in the city of Cork. It
contains Foley's fine bronze to Father Mathew, a Capuchin
friar and the "Apostle of Temperance," who died at
Queenstown on December 8th, 1856.
