The MASSEY MEMORIAL ORGAN. This organ
represents the largest single gift made, thus far, to the
educational work of Chautauqua Institution. It was installed
during the season of 1907, the gift of the Massey Family of
Toronto, Canada, in honor of the late H. A. Massey. The
cost of the organ itself was twenty-six thousand dollars, while
the fire proof vault in which it is housed, and the enlarging
of the amphitheatre necessary for its accommodation, swelled
this amount to forty thousand dollars. "In the possession of
this fine instrument and with other equipment which will
surely be provided, Chautauqua can easily have as wide an
influence in the organ world in this country, as it already has
in many other branches of art and learning".
