CUMBERLAND COUNTY COURT HOUSE
CARLISLE, PA.
Cumberland, the sixth county in Pennsylvania,
was organized in 1750. The county seat, Carlisle,
was named for Carlisle, England. Activity here
in the French and Indian Wars, as well as in
later wars, makes Carlisle an historical center.
