Quarters One, Rock Island Arsenal

the largest single quarters in the U.S. Army, was begun in 1870 by Brig. Gen. T.S Rodman, "the Father of Rock island Arsenal." It was completed in 1872 by Major Flagler, the first officer to occupy the house. Since then, it has been the residence of commanders and commanding generals to the present time. It contains a total of 19,105 square feet of floor space divided into fifty-one rooms. |
