Prescott Steam-Driven Water Pump

This old and unusual steam-driven water pump was one of the first of its kind used for the purpose of pumping water from underground mines. Installed at the Monroe Mine, Chisholm, in 1904 and used continuously until 1929. During the years of operation it was also used to pump water from the mine to supply the city of Chisholm. The pump was operated 300 feet below the surface and had a capacity of 3600 gal. per hour - Entire pump weight 83 tons. |
