During World War II many post offices were located with US military forces throughout Central America and the West Coast of South America, and whose mail was funneled through the Canal Zone facilities. The NPO was located in the hospital and later became a branch of the Rodman PO when the Navy turned over its facilities to the CZPS. The postal operation was transferred to the CZPS and moved to another building after the War. The Coco Solo Post Office was closed on 9-30-79, and has not been reopened as an APO. The NPO was in the attached annex at the left. The HQ building still stands and has housed APO 34007 since 9-30-79. Prior to Treaty Day the CZPS operated a PO there.
