My maiden name was Marilyn Joan Smith. I was married at this church on Sept 17, 1954. Lansing, Mich has no record of my marriage. Would you possibly have a record in your files?
Harold (Harry) Eugene Kunkle and Marilyn Joan Smith, Pastor at that time was Dr. Nies or Neis. He had a son who also became a minister. I was confirmed there was in Luther League , and sang in the choir, played basketball and girls' softball. My husband Harold Kunkle was also a member.
I lived at 19511 Hickory, Detroit.
He is deceased. I need a copy of the marriage certifiate to prove my citizenship.
Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

Marilyn, Mount Zion closed in 1997 and the church property was donated to a local human services agency. I and my entire Michigan family were baptized at Mount Zion and my uncle was a Lutheran pastor. The final service in 1997 was beautiful. My dad and nearly 100 other people sang in the choir and all of the local TV stations were there. I loved that church and participated in many activities there over the years. I believe that you can request your marriage certificate through the Wayne County Clerks office. You may also want to joint Ancestry for a month or two and you would be able to find it in their records. I wish you the best of luck in your search.
