| The church was organized in 1754 by descendants of an English Colony, which came first to Massachusetts in 1630, then to Connecticut in 1635, to South Carolina in 1695 and to Georgia in 1752. This building was erected in 1792, on the site of the original church, which was burned by the British in 1778. Two of Midway's sons were among the signers of the Declaration of Independence and the church has sent forth nearly a hundred ministers and missionaries. |
