TELESCOPES IN EDUCATION
Australian Students
After remotely operating the 24-inch Newtonian (reflecting) telescope
on Mount Wilson, California, middle school students in Queensland,
Australia, compare a textbook photo with the live image on their computer
monitor. Through Telescopes in Education (TIE), celestial objects in the
Northern Hemisphere sky can be observed in real time by students and
teachers located in the Southern Hemisphere.
