Apache Leap ,the flat -topped mountains east of Superior; so called because in the early seventies a band of marauding Apaches pursued by Cavalry from Camp Pincl, finding themselves trapped on these heightswith no avenue of retreat ,chose to plunge with their horses over the cliffs to their death rather tham surrender.
