Near the quaint mining town of Cooke,
Montana, which was an inland town until
1935, when the Cooke-Red Lodge Highway
was completed, is the northeast or Cooke en-
trance to Yellowstone National Park. This
view shows historic Republic Mountain just
south of Cooke, and the Government checking
station, built in 1935 at the park boundary.
