Additional Details:
Nearly 80 years ago the first Spenger built his home here and operated his fishing boats from the Berkeley pier. When the catch was good, he answered the demand for fresh sea foods by serving crab and shrimp from giant cauldrons out of doors. The now famous fish grotto was developed from this small beginning by the son and grandson of the founder. They continue to operate their own boats in the traditional family manner, but have supplemented their menus with delectable foods flown here from all parts of the world. The maritime setting is authentic; all of the sea relics and fine woods enhancing the interior were once part of old and famous ships of the area.
