HICKMAN COUNTY COURTHOUSE
Clinton, Ky.
The County was named for Capt. Paschall Hickman
in 1821... who was massacred by Indians after
"River Raisin" battle Jan. 1813. He was one of nine
Kentucky officers killed in that action for whom
counties were named. The original county of Hick-
man comprised the Kentucky portion of the Jackson
Purchase. The first county seat was at Columbus, Ky.
The original county of Hickman has been subdivided,
over the years, into eight counties.
