Additional Details:
It was about the middle of the eighteenth century, when the colonial west, namely the Pennsylvania Dutch, produced the Conestoqa wagon with its sturdily built running gear and canvas-covered, boat-like body. It was the descendant of the marvelous wagon, the Prairie Schooner which made possible a hundred years ago, the conquest of the American Far West. This particular covered wagon can be seen on highway U.S. 66 after leaving Tijeras Canyon and entering city of Albuquerque from the east.
