DECLARATION CHAMBER, Independ-
ence Hall, Philadelphia, Pa. Independence
Hall is located on Chestnut St., between
5th and 6th Sts., on the north side of
Independence Square. It was built in
1729-35 by the province of Pennsylvania
as the colonial State House. The East
Room was occupied by the Second Con-
tinental Congress, where the Declaration
of Indo
was made and signed
July 4, 1776. A facsimile of the document
hangs above the speaker's rostrum and
portraits of signers hang upon the walls.
