The first steamliner operated by diesel-electric power and first to be placed into regular scheduled passenger service in America was delivered to the Chic. Burlington & Quincy RR on Apr. 18,1934. This train made history on May 25, 1934 when it ran nonstop from Denver to Chicago, a distance of 1,034 miles in 13 hours, 5 min., on average speed of 77.5 miles per hour. At one point it attained a maximum speed of 112.5 miles per hr. These fine steamliners stop at Galesburg.
