The Lunar Module, (LEM) is a two-stage Apollo moon
landing craft. The upper ascent stage, contains the
crew compartment, communications equipment and
antennas. It also functions as a single spacecraft to
return the crew to lunar orbit and rendezvous with the
command/service module. The descent stage houses
the lunar landing engine, batteries, experimental equip-
ment and supplies of fuel, oxygen, helium, and water.
