Additional Details:
On Dec. 6th 1917 a collision occurred on Halifax Harbor between a French steamer carrying explosives and a Belgian relief steamer. The explosion which followed destroyed a large part of Halifax City, killing 1,200 people, wounding 2,000 and rendering 6,000 homeless.
