The International foot bridge, connecting Laredo and
Nuevo Laredo was completed in 1922, and is the finest
on the Mexican border. Many thousands of people pass
over this bridge daily, and numerous residents of Nuevo
Laredo and school children come to the American side
each day for work and study. Shortly after completion,
one of the worst floods in the history of the Rio Grande
swept over the bridge, but practically no damage was
done.
