Description:

Grants, New Mexico, was situated on the Old Pony Express trail to the Pacific Coast in Pioneer days. It was a station for change of horses, wagon trains and mail, an was named for President Ulysses S. Grant when he was General of the U. S. army. Today, Grants (the S being adopted) is a progressive little city on Highway Route 66 about half-way between Albuquerque and Gallup, N. M. Nestling in the foothills of Mt. taller, It is picturesquely surrounded by Spanish American and Indian villages. Lumbering, mining and farming are carried on extensively, irrigation for the Bluewater Dam producing many trainloads of choice vegetables yearly.
