Additional Details:
The annual exports amount to about $32,000,000 of which silk, tea, cotton, beans, groundnuts, wood, oil and skins comprise 45percent. The direct imports from foreign countries, including goods for re-export, aggregate $125,000,000 yearly. Among the leading articles are cotton and woolen goods, timber and soft wood, cloth, kerosene, machinery and engine oil, coal, beans, leather goods, iron bars, nails and opium. The first foreign shipment made by us after the Fire of 1906 was consigned to Shanghai on March 10th. Our permit was the third issued by the Steamship company after that event.
