THE ACADEMIC BUILDING OF THE
UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA occupies the southern
side of the new quadrangle; it contains the public hall (seating
nearly 1,500), a general assembly room, eleven lecture rooms
and the biological laboratory. The building is entered by a
handsome portico on the second floor.
