Fremont-Home of Rutherford B. Hayes. Rutherford
B. Hayes, nineteenth President of the United States, was
born in Delaware, Ohio, Oct. 4th, 1822. He was graduated
from Kenyon College in 1842. In 1852, he married Lucy
W. Webb; and his successful career was largely due to
her intelligent appreciation of his aspirations. They
celebrated their silver wedding in the White House.
Hayes died in Fremont, his home for many years, on
Jan. 17th, 1893, his widow surviving him six years.
