Castillo de San marcos started in 1672, completed 1756, with stood several English attacks. 9. City Gates are a remnant of the town wall built in the early 1700's. 10. Florida ceded to Great Briain 1763 for Cua. 11. Receded back to spain in 1783 in exchange for the Bahama Islands. 12. Roman Catholic Cathedral built in 1793 partially destroyed by fire in 1887. 13. Florida ceded to the United States in 1821 in settlement of border disputes. 14. Sea Wall built by United States 1837 - 1843.
