Additional Details:
The World's Columbian Exposition, commemorating the four hundredth anniversary of the discovery of America, was held in Jackson Park during 1803. The park contains 586 acres and has a two mile frontage on Lake Michigan. The wellknown Midway Plasance, a strip of 80 acres, connects Jackson Park with Washington Park. Only one of the famous buildings that made up the White City now remains: the Art Palace, now converted into the Field Columbian Museum
