UNDERSEAS BOAT ABOUT TO SUBMERGE
Back:
PUBLISHED BY AMERICAN COLORTYPE CO., CHICAGO
NO. 10.
The submarine has an interesting history in
this country. The first one-invented and built
by J. P. Holland in 1900-immediately aroused
the envy of every nation in Europe. Today, the
finest of the world's undersea craft are built
here, and we are supplying the Allies as well
as our own navy. The boat shown here is
cleared for action and is already partly sub-
merged. Note that even while on the surface
it offers a very small target to an enemy ship,
and when submerged it is very difficult prey for
the most agile destroyers and the most accurate
gunners.
