in 1883 the first Naval Training Station was established
here and a year later Admiral Stephen B. Luce founded the
Naval War College, the Navy's highest institution of learning.
Coddington Point (in the distance) includes buildings of the
Surface Warfare Officers School, Naval Justice School and
other commands.
